Help me identify this bike please!

I want to restore a Hiawatha bike my dad gave me. Before I do I would like more information about it, like is it all the original components? What year? Etc... thank you!

Postwar Murray built Hiawatha. Sold at Gambles stores.

Maybe later 1940's with the chain guard style of the earlier Murray Mercury models; the embossed(?) tank shape must have been a special feature.

You can put a post in the "wanted" section on this forum for the missing truss rods and rear fender. Likely someone will have the parts you need.

1948, very cool that the tank and chain guard are there, they'd be tough to find! A fender and truss rods should be fairly easy. Best bet would be to find some Gamble's ads to get a feel for the original look.
