smashed... that explains it. I thought it was replaced. that's a good straight smash, they knew what they were doing. the smashing part anyway
 
If that is a Schwinn frame it has to be a 1962 or newer with that style chain guard mounting tab on the BB. Almost (does) look like the Taiwan version. Rear dropouts sure look funky and not Chicago. Chain stay BB joints are not Chicago Schwinn. Taiwan or fake Schwinn frame is my thought, but definitely altered.
 
It’s pretty heavy. Maybe it’s filled with concrete. Ha
I’m gonna strip the paint off and have a better look at it. I’ll let you folks know if I find anything interesting.

Ok so upon stripping the paint off this is what I found.
I think whoever said it was a DX with a replacement top tube is correct.
The lower bar is clearly brazed and the top looks like a normal weld.
Also the bottom bracket had additional markings.

I'll be damned. What is that thing, a pre 1946 factory abortion with no built in kickstand and a straight top bar? Double diamonds means factory R&D reject.
