On Training Wheels
I've come into recent ownership of a Silver King Monark bicycle - it was in an old barn that was going to be burned down. As far as I know, it was purchased new by the owner of the barn and it has sat indoors for several decades without being touched. Here's what I do know:

The serial number is 21589, a tag on the back axel says New Departure Model D.

There is a keyhole on the steering column.

The seat looks very old, I don't know enough to say if it is original. The seat has a working latch compartment on the back with a reflector.

Both fenders are in place, slightly dented.

The front fender has a light housing on it, no bulb or protective lens.

I'll attach what photos I have - if there are other photos that are helpful, please let me know and I'll get them to you!

If you know anything about this bicycle, year, origin, model, market value, interesting tidbits, please let me know!

Someone else will confirm the exact year but it’s a mid to late 30’s.
It’s missing the truss rods and possibly the rear rack.
Not sure if it should have had one.
It has the wrong forks. Should be aluminum like the rest of the bike.
The seat is a called toolbox Troxel due to the toolbox pouch in the rear.

Nice bike you picked up. Definitely worth saving.

You've probably beem PM'd heavily on this one. Don't let the vultures con you out of it. It's a good find with some real good parts, especially the seat. Search toolbox seat on this site and see what they want for even rough ones.

really cool - seat as stated is mucho dinero ... looks like you have one T10 and one streamline pedals. Stream line was prob a replacement. Both $$
