If the decals are of the vinyl type variety, a hair dryer and then some WD-40 to remove the adhesive residue work great. Using your fingernail is good as you work it off, or something hard plastic will work (but use caution and work slowly not to scratch the paint).

Water transfer decals, I've found, are much more stubborn. Forgiving when applied because you can move them around, but terrible to try and remove. Hair dryer, then warm water and constant soaking of the area while using your fingernail is the only way I've been able to remove them. Very time consuming and frustrating. Keep the music playing and keep something to drink nearby! 😎
