Help to Identify chain gard

I got this bike from a friend that bought it in Pensilvania. I'm not sure the chain gard is from this bike or 30's circa. Any help be much appreciated.

Chain guard is an after market McCauley guard made into the 1950s. Trivia question: I know of one bike this came factory on. Can you name the bike? V/r Shawn

Here's a May 1949 ad from the American Bicyclist magazine. It seems to indicate that the chainguard was a new design at the time.
