Help with a 1910-1914 Windsor bike project

Wore out three sets of tires already!
So I'm building what was originally described as a 1918-19 Mead Ranger frame and fork.

What my research has revealed is that it is probably a 1910-1914 Windsor Manufacturer frame. May or may not have been built for Mead. Definitely not a standardized bike.

Now comes my problems. The main crank housing is 2 5/8 inches wide.

Instead of the standard 2 1/2 inch wide crank housing as shown on my 1916 Mead Ranger.

The standard width crank that fits standard width 2.5 inch housing is too short and does not have right angle to fit in the housing.

I can probably grind down the left side about a 1/16 of an inch without getting too close the lower frame leg. I'm fearful of grinding down the right side another 1/16 of an inch because of the already tight clearances.

My question is there a wider vintage pedal crank that I could use instead of having to grind the bearing housing down?

Thanks in advance my friends.

The standard Mead crank is 3 1/4 inches from crank face to outside left thread. So I imagine I'll need a crank with at least a 3 3/8 or 3 1/2 inch measurement. Has anyone seen a teens crank with that dimension?

Track down a two piece or a three piece crank set? What is the i.d. of the bottom bracket?
OK now I get what you were talking about. The inside diameter of the lower bracket is 2 inches in diameter which is also not standard. Luckily the frame came with a decent set of lower bearing races.

With an oddball bike, sometimes you just need to find parts to make it work. A Thompson bottom bracket is a 3 piece bottom bracket with pressed in cups. They come in different sizes and widths and could get this frame on the road again. Check eBay, but sometimes the Chinese vendors don't call them a Thompson. Also, there are some modern BMX cranks for pressed cups that might work- one is a "Spanish" bottom bracket and there are others. Past my bedtime now- I'll look in the morning.

Looks like I might have found a 1942 dogleg crank that will work. Only one of the doglegs in my stock will fit it. A gift from the "never throw out any parts" god.

Took it out for a trial run today. Boy those Blunt 35s and 28 inch wheels roll great.
