Help with crank marking question

-

Ernbar

I live for the CABE
A S & Co is for Arnold Schwinn & Company but what is the JA on the left and E on the right? The other side has what looks to me like some type of circle stamp on left followed by 6001-1. What are these numbers? TIA.

Here's my take. The number 6001 is the part number, JA is the foundry and that M or E may be a date marking.

With that JA marking I'd guess real late 50's, possibly 59. My 58 Corvette does not have a foundry marking on it, just the AS & CO. In 1960 the cranks did not have the AS & Co markings and they started with this style identification.
