Check that number again.most likely a B as the first digit? Looks to be a middleweight.

The badge, chain guard, and color suggest mid '50s middleweight, later seat and grips.

No such serial number for Schwinn. Bike was a 55 to 58 Corvette judging from the pedals and stainless fenders.
