Highwheel British Challenge project

prewarmachine

Wore out three sets of tires already!
Picked this up yesterday. Not sure if it was a good purchase or if I got a little in over my head. Going to find out really quick! Backbone, fork and hub have matching #'s. 54" model

Just got it mocked up. The previous owners grandfather seems to have bead blasted almost everything, has made the copper bushings, made handle bars, correct replacement hardware and machined parts to make new overman pedals. A huge headstart for this project!

It looks like there is a bunch of stuff in your boxes that doesn't belong to this bike. I can't see from your photos if you have the bearing boxes and adjusters. The small hole in the cranks is for a screw that locks the bearing adjusters in place.

I asked him about a piece on the crank with lots of holes drilled in it. I believe that's what you're looking for. In the photos from when they got it in 1983, there wasn't that piece present. I'm guessing it's missing :/. Does anyone have a picture of the piece or pieces??

The bearing adjuster with the series of holes around it correspond with the screw hole in the crank near the axle hole. This screw has its end turned down to engage the bearing adjuster holes but the screw is just so long as to bottom out in the crank but not so long to actually push up against the adjuster. The notches on the crank end are for adjusting the position of the pedal axles. The bearing boxes have double races for 5/16" steel balls. Singer didn't use Overman Victor pedals.

Awesome pictures! Thank you! This is all that's there. The inner sleeve I believe he machined just to make it so the bike could be mocked up. The other side he had a needle bearing placed inside. I'm guessing he was trying to make something work because the factory pieces were missing. It looks like my bearing box has been improvised as well. I see a keyed groove inside and the ledge for the fork to rest on is much more narrow.
