Friend of mine is closing up his Vintage Motorcycle shop and moving everything South. He sold me this “Our Own Hardware” Schwinn. I suspect it’s a 40ish DX.
Any thoughts on Year, value, and what is this little bracket under the head tube?
Thx all,
Bart
Thanks Shawn,
This is my 1st Schwinn, Got it from Charles Smith, been on his wall for years! He’ll be down your way if you have future vintage HD parts needs!!

Chain ring is not ballooner and I don’t think US. I think a good price for the whole thing is about $500 but I see probably about $650 in parts. At $500 you could afford to get this thing back together if you’re patient and shop smart. Jus my 2c V/r Shawn
Thanks all, from the start I knew the chainring was incorrect but the owner pushed back so I thought I’d ask - no worries, have the cups and bearings!
I over bought this week and then found a crazy aftermarket dual stop light that I “Need” for my 58 Panhead, may have to sacrifice a this bike for my 58
