Hoping for info on an older JC Higgins

Hello all!
My first post here, and of course, it's probably a question you hear daily: "What year is my bike?"
But honestly, what year is my bike? Anyone have any ideas? Guy I bought it from said 1940, which seems wrong to me.

All J.C. Higginns bicycles were made after WWII starting in 1947.yours looks like a 47 to a 48.
