Sven

Cruisin' on my Bluebird
This is just me wondering. I know some of you have quite a number of fully restored beauties in your stable.
My collection is very small and nothing rare, exotic or high on a collectors list. I look at and buy old bicycles that I will ride. I stay with 27 and 26 inch wheel size bikes, mostly the "S" word bikes and a JC Higgins..
Space and money ( the wife needs to stop milking her shoulder surgery recovery and get back to work...JK ) limit the number in my collection ,which is fine .
So of my fleet of Ready to Run " bikes, I ride regularly is 100% ( all 6 )

I have 1 restored 41 Schwinn Autocycle that i dont ride. Also, i have 3 other prewar originals that i dont ride either.

In total i have 7 ballooners i ride (mostly Schwinn B6's) and put about 2000 miles on those annually.

Basically if the bike costs more than the car i drive, it gets parked and enjoyed visually.

I don't really have the space for a large collection, so 2 is the limit for the old bikes. We have 2 Chinese sanpans that the wife and I ride if it's wet outside, and a "90 model Jamis Cruiser 6 speed when I'm riding the hills. Then I have an '80 Collegiate single speed, and just picked up a Higgins Flightliner w/ a kickback hub. I ride the Schwinn on nice days, and will do the same with the Flightliner when it's finished. If I had the space I'm quite sure I would have several "Garage Queens" on display. I'm still new to this hobby, but found that it is quickly addicting. :)

... I ride all 7 of these ...

All but one of my 13 bikes are ready to ride. Surprisingly the one that is not ready to ride is my newest bike year wise. It's a Trek Y Glide, haven't ridden it in about 4 years. But with some new tubes it could be ridden. In about 1/2 an hour. I would rather ride my cruisers though. Enjoy riding the Rail Trails now more so than the single track or mountain riding.

I currently have somewhere between 60-70 bikes. About the only ones I haven't ridden are the 28" bikes becuase I don't have singletubes that will hold air. Everything else no matter how rare, restored, or original is subject to being ridden and the Hurricane Coasters can attest to this. V/r Shawn
