How to preserve old saddle?

How can I preserve this original saddle and still use it for riding? I would rather not have it recovered, although I may if I have to.

You could try painting it with black enamel. Likely to need more than one coat. Sorta like an old canvas canoe; the paint soaks into the fabric and seals it. Nothing much to lose if it doesn't work out. Have fun!

Painting seats | Bicycle Restoration Tips

I have a few seats that have been re painted . Is there a certain paint to use? Does anyone have any suggestions of what to use? Thank you for any help
