Cool bike Kenny!
As far as I know, all of the actual military bikes are boys balloon tire bikes. I think I've read that the contract specified that they all be basically the same so parts would be interchangeable. there were two companies, Huffman and Columbia and the specifications were that all parts fit both brands. one thing to keep in mind, there have been bicycles on military bases at all times throughout history. most likely though, Rosie the Riveter rode this beauty to work somewhere during the war. as a civilian, you had to show that you had a need for a bike to get a voucher for one.
apparently our government wasn't always as inefficient as it is now. ;)

So your saying that Columbia was the only one making the actual girls military bicycles?
Huffman never made a girls Olive drab green military bicycle?
Am I understanding you right?

well, I wasn't there mind you but the stuff I've read from the period indicates all military bikes were men's balloon tires. this doesn't preclude the probability that bikes were provided for military use not covered by the actual war time ruling. there may well have been ton's of bikes on bases all over that weren't part of this actual rationing board ruling. this also implies that there were bicycles on bases before the war and after the war. there are bicycles on bases today. are they military bicycles? sure, but are they the WWII bikes built by Huffman and Columbia? no. I can't find the page that stated the actual requirements of the bikes, but I'll keep looking.
