forgot to mention above that this generation of the Competizione model launched about 1975-76
the original generation launched about 1966, it is also a 144 BCD five-arm model
differs mainly that the central flute in the outer face of the arm expresses fine longitudinal grooves which appear as though they were made with the tines of a dinner fork
in the later 1980's a third generation Competizione launched which is all smooth and without fluting or stamping -
OFMEGA was the first producer to offer a 41T chainwheel for the 144 BCD, ~1975
meant they were able to sell a great many to cyclists who owned other brands of 144 BCD chainsets
eventually the folks in Vicenza seemed to notice and commenced manufacture of their own 41T
