hi all,

new to the forum, new to vintage bicycles but glad to be here! just got this old schwinn as a gift and have NO idea what it is or how old it is. i've looked through dozens of pictures of schwinn's online but can't find any that look exactly like this, particularly the frame. also, it looks like somebody repainted the bike... i can still see the original green paint where the new paint is chipping away. can anybody help me identify my bike?

thanks in advance!

hi, I have one that looks exactly like yours it is called a "Speedster" mine is 26" and I had a 24" that I sold. hope this helps you.:)

Here's a link to a printable Schwinn serial number list that includes factory log book info for some years. http://www.angelfire.com/rant/allday101/index.html

Look in the 60s and 70s for your serial number. which can be found on the left rear dropout or steer tube. It does look like a Speedster and it definitely has been repainted. I also notice that you have hand brakes front and rear so it must be a 3 speed model but you do not appear to have a shifter. It should have a Sturmy Archer rear hub which will have a date code.

i have one like it with a 3 speed clicker on the handlebars and fenders like a fast back mine is 26'' and called a sport. bob
