I recently purchased a barn find of two vintage bicycles. One is a girls Western Flyer with an ID Plate on the bottom of the crank housing (picture included) and the other is a girls Monark Rocket with the serial number and model deeply stamped into the underside of the crank housing (pictures also attached) I know NOTHING about these bikes history or value. Any help to identify mfg date and potential value would be appreciated!

So is Columbia and Monark the same MFG? Is there a serial number lookup for Columbia or Monark bikes? Any thoughts on the Western Flyer?

I believe that your description may be off.

The Western Flyer was likely a 1960-S Murray-built middleweight bicycle for Western Auto stores.
That may have been before they figured out how to integrate the headlight into the tank(?).

The plate is on the Monark bike, (as typical).

No.

Columbia bicycles are Columbia, founded in 1877, it was once owned by Pope Manufacturing Company and was the brand that manufactured bicycles for the company. After Pope filed for bankruptcy in 1915, Columbia continued on to manufacture bicycles in Westfield, MA.

Monark bicycles were manufactured by Monark of Chicago.

The Western Flyer in question was manufactured by Murray of Ohio.
