New Mexico Brant

Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
I want to share this amazing Indian Motocycle - Westfield Columbia catalog. It was discovered in the files of an Albuquerque Indian motorcycle dealership that closed decades ago. This helps explain a small group of bicycles that have appeared from the late 30’s with Indian badges. Check out the cover bike with the Lobdell horizontal spring saddle!

This appears to be a '39 cat. What is interesting to me is that the bikes seem to have a Westfield and not an Indian badge in the pics even though examples from this period have surfaced with the typical Indian embossed badges including a Sports Tourist model. V/r Shawn

Here is the Sports Tourist model I bought from Tom Hughes. This is the reason I am thrilled this catalog surfaced; in past posts many people were scratching their heads with doubt. Below is a catalog image (from a Columbia dealers catalog, seemingly a year or two different from the above) that shows the Sports Tourist model in either a three speed or with a double rear sprocket as on my bicycle. The below bicycle even has the rear axle wing nuts mentioned in the catalog. Photo credit: @buck hughes
