Please inform me on this bicycle I picked. The tires are made in Germany 26x1.25. Polar bear head badge and frame identification.

Looks to be one of the obscure brands, possibly German. There were many that came and went, and hardly anything is known about them.

If you should have occasion to repack the bottom bracket on the machine's Thun chainset would be curious to learn if the chainwheel is swaged to the arm or if it is a thread-on secured by a threaded lockring.

When cottered chainsets exhibit this "hubcap" feature around the head of the right arm they are often of the latter design.

This mid-fifties catalogue page from manufacturer Peyrard shows a cotterered arm threaded to accept a thread-on chainwheel in the lower left corner of the page.

The drawing in the lower right corner of the page shows how it works.
