Cool color!
For townie riding don't need much suspension, you can try tighten the red preload adjuster to compress coil, stiffens rear, turn red adjuster clockwise.

Front fork elastomers most likely deteriorated crumbly hard dust. Literally.

I bought my wife a full-suspension Iron Horse (different model from this, a ‘Maverick’) about eighteen years when I was trying to get her interested in mountain biking. It’s a nice bike with good components, but it’s HEAVY, much heavier than my Schwinn Homegrown.

Not really. My only advice would be to search completed auctions on Ebay. These bikes are still a bit new for collectors, and being mass produced, may never have any significant value. The real money in vintage mountain bikes is in the early stuff from the late 70's and 80's, especially bikes made by pioneers like Joe Breeze and Tom Ritchey. Early Specialized Stumpjumpers, especially the first year bikes from '81 and '82 have gone up in value.

I would try and sell it here on The Cabe, but since no one ventures to Long Island and I don't ship... 😕
