Is Anyone Else Bothered by Blatant Counterfeiting of Vintage BMX parts too.

I went on Ebay this morning to look for Cook Bros. parts that I might want to add to my collection and saw some large CBR BB cups (listed price $1,999.99 + $50 shipping) so I clicked on the posting and looked at the pictures... TOTAL FAKES! Pardon my french, but how/ why do these douche bags think they are going to get away with this fraud?

I don't think that kind of behavior would "float" for a New York minute with collectors of 1950's and earlier bicycles, but for some reason it seems to be "de rigueur" in the BMX world?!?!

I saw those.there was a set at dirtyfest in the swap meet too on someone's table.alot with the stems I've seen.stamped and everything.if I wasn't shown the differences by friends I'd be fooled.a tribute part with differences is kool but when these guys are making exact copy down to the stamp it's just wrong

I really feel sorry for folks buying some of this stuff. I see a lot of absolute crap get sold for big bucks on eBay and BMX museum…

I contacted the guy thru Ebay and pointed out the differences between the originals and his "knock-off's" (Not that I have the knowledge of some of you OG experts ) and here was his reply:

I like counterfeits almost as much as I like reissued parts.

The Reissue Phantom wrecked the original market.
Mongoose just reissued motomags so now a bunch of frames show up with repops on sales sites.

Wouldn't want to get scammed so really have to see it up close before I'm willing to buy anything anymore.

The ridiculous prices people are paying for OG parts are driving the counterfeit market. Atleast repops are marked repop mostly.
