Wore out three sets of tires already!
I purchased what I believe is a mid 1950 Schwinn, red Phantom. I brought it home yesterday and gave it a good wash.
To remove all the years of caked on grease with a bucket of soapy dawn water. I took Before & After photos of the bike and after I washed it, the bike appeared to be more orange. In the past, I purchased a dx bicycle that had the very similar shade of faded red. I assume this bike was just kept in the sunlight for a long time. After giving it a bath, I gave it a light coat of wax and added an original Phantom tank I had on my shelf. The light houseing has house paint on it but it doesn't stick out too much. My goal is to keep the patina alone, regrease everything, true the wheels and recover the seat. Not sure if the pedals are correct

Man, this old Schwinn sure did turn orange on itself. Love those old bike license too. Any interest in parting with them let me know. RideOn. . Mark.

Somehow this bike jumped ahead of all my other projects but so far I've trued both wheels. Cleaned and regrease the hubs and all the bearings. took out the major dents from the front fender. reupholstered the seat added a deluxe reflector and pedals.
