What was odd was the seat post and the other down post met in a curve at the bottom bracket (where the crank goes). They didn't butt into it like most others I have seen. Wish I had gotten a picture of it.

Would think that all of the zinc plating (headset, mudguard stays, pedals, chain guard brackets, etc.) would mark it as an economy model.

Looking at Stelber on Google, that is the frame shape. Neat bike. The asking was $150, but I'm on vacation (flew here) so no dice.
 
Good eye on spotting the looptail construction, but these are later postwar and as such not of very high quality to begin with so no big loss. Now if it had been a Monark you would be getting a real tounge lashing!
