I think someone busted through the acorn nuts ( just a guess) - Are the guts inside the fork tube ? The rubber bushings can be purchased independently ---------don't know about the springs When set up properly these will ride real nice .

I thought at first they were busted through myself
But after looking at them they are identical
And smooth on top .no rough edges like a break through .
