If I try and follow the model/dating 1589 = Men's '39, 1580 = Men's '40, maybe 1581 = Men's '41 and 1582 = Men's '42?

The Colson model is supposed to be badged "Featherweight" but I haven't seen a bike thus badged yet. I'm not sure where the concentric ring badged Colsons i.e. SCOUT etc. were marketed, does anyone have a clue? At first I was thinking this bike had alot of unoriginal equipment on it, but now I'm not so sure. This equipment may very well be mostly correct for a Defender badged bike. Here are a few other very interesting clues I've found....

Here on the Cabe a while back....

And this one a closer match with some non-og equipment but...

No mention of the Featherweight in the '41 catalog but there is this Racer Model No. 911 shown with a 1/2" pitch Paisley chainring, says "forged cranks" but pic looks now like a one piece forged crank....

If you decide to clean up the chain ring like me know if you find white paint like I did. The only bike I have ever seen with this is my 42 Featherweight Vagabond. I can see why no one did it. The chain grease really shows up on the ring.
