bought this today. Confused by the stamp by the serial number plate?
Dave Stromberger, what-say you?

back in the stone age, when I was a kid the local police stamped a number on your frame ! and filed it away for theft ,Richard...:p

Interesting. Overcodes, and sidecodes, additional markings on the BB are of much intrigue to me. I found that one of my ladies Schwinns marked today with LACC stamped along the BB edge? Hmmn. Maybe if there is a marking that means if suspected stolen authorities could check the LACC records to match the owner?

Is it me or is that single spring springer odd? I've only seen a dual upright spring on these Monarks, never a single upright spring.

Serial # on the plate dates it to '47. The lower end and rebadged bikes like Airman and Rocket used the single springer. What's odd is the tank shroud being there, typical of a Deluxe or Super Deluxe, with the dual springer.

The guy I bought it from put the shroud on it.
