Mongoose Supergoose BMX

Looking to get some info on this Mongoose supergoose BMX bike. Not to familiar with the BMX stuff so figured I’d go here for help.

The bike is my girl friends uncles and his 12 year old son took interest in it and wants to fix it up which I think is rad! Just looking for info as far as what’s correct, what’s not, and where I’d possibly be able to find correct parts to help him fix it. This is a second owner bike and still has the original Cali bike licenses on it from back in the day which I’ve never seen on a BMX bike.

It's definitely a supergoose the 3 hole brake bridge confirms it.

Right off the bat this bike has great parts. But might be too far gone to salvage for originality. But can be restored. The gt sprocket I wouldn't keep..but I wouldn't toss it.. people buy those.

Clean up the frame and forks, service the bearings replace the parts that are needed and let the kid enjoy it. Great bike for a 12 year old to have.

Give all the chrome parts an OA dip and you will be amazed. You can clean those z rims white again too. Just google how to do. Each should have a date on the inside. Proabbly under the rim tape.

You can just clean it up as is or sell the GT Performer cheese grate sprocket and bars are probably from the same Performer. They will bring some money to replace the parts.

Unfortunately still in the same state as when these photos were taken. In the process of moving and working on a few other projects right now. Hoping to get on it early next year.

September of 1982, all chromoly Supergoose. I would not use steel wool on chrome, brass wool is okay. Someone mentioned OA bath, that is the route I would use, then wax the crap out of it. Reproduction decals are readily available here: Decals
