Hey guys.
I've been lurking here for a while,
and figured might as well start posting up here...

I've been into bikes a while now,
and after a huge flurry of collecting,
whittled down and kept my favorite bikes,
the tankless prewar shelby's.

I had 4 riders for a long time,
and one rainy night someone broke into the shop (in ventura about 2002ish)
and stole (with 3 other bikes) my most dialed in shelby - defender, delta hornlight with S holes, fenders etc. an army green color
It really soured me cause they probably just wanted transportation,
so I decided to dismantle some of the other ones just out of paranoia.

Fast forward til now.
I had kept one as a rider, but it was in dire need of a going through,
which helped me to dig out my old shelby boxes.
It didn't take long for the bike addiction to grab hold...

Instead of rebuilding old faithful,
I decided to put together my (2nd) worst shelby frame-
The rear axle hangers were wasted,
so I welded them up like new
I figured I could flip it for some needed fun money.

This is more of a hot rod bike,
just a POS shelby frame and random non-stock parts.
The frame was weird as it looks like it should hold the peanut tank,
but it is 1/4" to skinny.

Most of you on here will hate it because its so random, I know, I know,
but on the Santa Barbara Fiesta cruiser run last month,
it was at home.
There is a a huge trend of modifying schwinn et al cruiser frames with 80's bmx parts.
(I do have a 70's schwinn modified with rock shox and brakes that I love...)
These guys are fanatics and there are some great examples,
I remembered these bikes from high school days.

with recently added hornlight...

it was a beat up carcass from dawalt, so modified a LED flashlight in there...

Anyway, after the cruiser run the red shelby became hard to sell,
just cause it rides so smooth and I don't have to worry about ruining rims anything.

So last week I had an itch and decided to throw together a 90%er...
just to have a good fendered rider.

Did a quicky patina paint job on there, too many cool colors underneath there...

this is the best frame ever.

It has a "flying cloud" badge...

Other than the tires seat-post and seat cover,
the bikes really authentic to the '37ish time period.
I love bombing down hills in it,
especially with those wide bars.
Me and a ventura friend Richie used to go back in time ridin our shelby's around...

I've had that tank for 15 years and its never been installed,
kinda funny I always liked the tankless look.
The light doesn't work, its a beater and I may do a conversion like the other one,
just cause I like to ride at night.
Still need a delta defender, anyone!?

Well, one thing I had stashed away was a shelby flyer,
that 10+ years ago i had everything nickel plated. (before I had kids!)
Lucky I didn't misplace the box!

I'll probably do a backyard paint job,
I like to ride them too much to want to worry about chips and stuff,
but it'll have the rest of my good stuff on there-
2 spd ND hub, front WD brake, stewart warner speedo, peanut tank...

I'm hoping my wife will let me hang it in the living room!

I'll keep you posted on it...

thanks for letting me ramble..
