Wore out three sets of tires already!
Tried to date this bike, no luck so far. Checked a couple places on here didn’t seem to help. No MO on this one. I really dig the rack, reflector and head badge. Nice wide Torrington handle bars for a girls. The girls Torrington pedals will clean up as well.
The seat will get recovered for my ladies bull nose Colson.

Musselman hub is 1947. I realize they could have had some left in the bin in 48, but this gets me close enough. Thanks again.

Any info on the light on the rack? Can’t figure out what the holes are in the body of the light. Assuming there was a cord that went to the inside of the tank?

Any info on the light on the rack? Can’t figure out what the holes are in the body of the light. Assuming there was a cord that went to the inside of the tank?
 
The "25x2" on the bottom bracket is consistent with Murray's model numbering.
Even numbers for boys; odd numbers for girls.
The higher numbers (28/29) were for the higher-end super-deluxe models.
The lower numbers (20/21) were for the lower-end base-economy models.
Not sure if Roy Firestone contracted for any special features, e.g., exclusive sheet metal tanks or racks; (they look fairly deluxe).
The light would hold a single 1.5V D-cell, and would turn on-off by tightening the lens/cap.
It could have been modified or poked with a screwdriver, if it stopped working because of corrosion or just "needed" extra hole poking.

'9A8' is Firestone's coding, I believe there's a thread here with a breakdown. Murray only made them late '40s - early '50s, until the mid '60s "500" models.
