Finally riding a big boys bike
Altadena, California is a truly magical place. Rooted in history, amazing architecture, wonderful homes, shops and people.

The Eaton fire that hit us in SoCal basically razed ALL of Alta Dena. 14k acres and going. It looks like a war zone from the aerials.

Steve's Bike Shop has been a legacy serving the bike community in Altadena, CA for over 40 years.

Steve is a wonderfully sweet dude who helped me recently with a 1944 Westfield, when no other shop would. We made quick friends.

During the fires he hopped into action to help save neighbors homes, businesses and even a fleeing horse.

When he finally reached his shop it was gone with every specialty tool inside it.

I am not flush at all but donated $50 to help, as he is not getting much traction.

If any SoCal friends or elsewhere want to donate to a good cause.. this shop was truly special and run by great people.

Attached photo of Steve Salinas on the cover of LA times helping save a neighboring property, and his shop destroyed.

Prayers for those who lost it all.

I stepped away from this thread but that took a turn..

@Wolfmac - Very well said.

If any of you donated, I thank you and I will make sure he knows that CABE members send their support.

I think by posting this Steve was able to raise quite a bit more than he would have naturally.

I will update this thread later and I do hope to visit this shop again once rebuilt.

I have been going to Steve's Bike Shop since the 1980s. He's a great guy who loves the hobby. He's very deserving of any help we can give him. Thank you for posting this, Huffy45. I'm just back online since the fire, it's been a hellish two weeks. To all my peeps in our beautiful Altadena, stay strong... we will rebuild.

The Eaton fire was absolutely catastrophic. Of the 15,000 homes and businesses in town, only 4,000 remain standing. Fully 2/3rds of our homes and buildings were wiped out, completely obliterated. We are still spontaneously bursting into tears on a daily basis.

I urge everyone to smile at everyone you meet. You never know who has just lost everything, and could really use that smile.

I just made a small donation. I don't know Steve but I have friends from Disney that lost their homes. It is heartbreaking.

PLEASE, do what you can, donate five bucks if that's all you can, it doesen't have to be much but it will make an impact on
someones life.

I'm telling you, every little guesture will help get this guy through.
