My wife challenged me, and said I couldn't make this Elgin look better in one day.

Cruisin' on my Bluebird
She said there was no way I could make this old Elgin look better in one day. When she left for work at 7:30 AM. I got to work, This was a 50 year old repaint so I didn't care what the finished product looked like as long as it looked better when she got home and I WIN the challenge. I got a brush, some old auto paint, sand paper and some tools. The hardest part was getting the white paint off the rims and spokes. That took about a hour I did do something I hate (silver spray paint). Sanded and got busy with the brush, I know the purist people will say I ruined this bike but all I had to do is make it look better, the most important part was to WIN THE CHALLENGE. When she got home she thought it was a different bike. Feel free to tell me if you think it looks better or I murdered this bike,, but remember from A to B in 7 hours.

In the first pics the front fender was mounted inside the fork, it is supposed to on top of the fork, getting the stem out without a hammer made me happy. So I could of just left it but I'm sure everyone would of noticed it. And no she won't ride it, she rides 13 to 15 miles a day on her 80s Schwinn lightweight 10 speed. It's loaded with all the bells and whistles, speedo, cup holder, led lites, cell phone holder, those things she sticks in her ears for music, sun glasses with a mirror but refuses to wear a helmet.
