I just picked this up today but the serial number has me baffled without an alpha prefix. I'm pretty sure it's a dx with many missing and incorrect parts, but I couldn't pass it up. It rides great. It has screws but is missing the oval badge too. View attachment 857820

Did you check on the rear dropout at all ? Sometimes municipalities stamped registration numbers on the bottom.

Here's another one said to be a 44. Serial number on BB 003526. Although it may be a C, I can't really tell from the picture.
