I hear you Brother. Shipping TO the U.S. is crazier. It's VERY hard for us to sell stuff stateside. After you factor in shipping, you lose your shirt.
I'm buying Nash parts ( not available in Canada) from California. A small box ( I'm talking 6 inches square) costs me $46.10 postage. Our dollar ( contrary to what the Feds and banks tell us is worth .72 ) is worth about .60. So, 46.10 postage x 1.40 = 64.54. Then I pay tax, duty, handling of $25.00 to the Feds/Post Office. Almost $90.00 in freight/duty/handling. Parts are ( small temp./oil press gauge) about $235.00 U.S..x 1.40 = $330.00. Total Cdn is $330.00 + $90.00= $420.00 Cdn for $235.00 U.S. in parts. That's $185.00 more in Canuck bucks. Ouch!!
