Found New Departure S.M. replacement axles/cones

Were Wald or any other replacement axles ever made for S.M. or do most people use the W replacements? I mainly need end cones but i've spent too many hours cleaning/replacing old axles it seems better to just buy some good ones.

Kevin, this information may or may not be helpful. The Wald replacement cone for the SM was a #53. Unfortunately I don't have any. The Wald replacement axle for the W and WL is a #272. Is the SM axle different? I do have some #272 I could let go.

Thanks - the axle itself I think is custom threaded so I would think they would work fine in a SM just longer since the SM is a more narrow hub. I’ll look around for the Wald #53 - thanks for the help!
