hello, new here and new to very old bikes. We have acquired an old Ames and Frost model number 86 Imperial bike from my wifes' grandmother. We think it was probably my wife's great grandfather's, maybe ?? great great grandfathers. I don't see much info on the Ames and Frost bikes out there online but it appears it might be about 1901 vintage?
we were wondering if there is a source for information for these. We would like to possibly restore it being an old family piece (unknown if bought new or used or when but has been on the same farm since the family would have bought it) but, unfortunately, due to lack time, bike skills and storage that may not be feasible so we may end up parting with it. Any thoughts on what it might be worth?
seems to be complete with a pedal and a grip missing. of course the old tires are off the wood rims and are hard as a rock. I have not cleaned it up yet so the pictures aren't that great. Last 2 are the better shots of it. Everything seems to turn. has a small leather pouch in the frame under the seat. I presume an aftermarket accessory??
Thank you.
