Newbie Projects

Finally riding a big boys bike
Since joining this site I have done a couple of projects that I just realized haven't shared yet with the group. I purchased these within the last several weeks. The red one is a 199X? Schwinn Riverside 7sp which from what I understand is a retro reproduction of a 1950's model. It was pretty rusted out when I got it so I stripped it down, repainted, etc... attempted to maintain the vintage look. The other is a 1987(?) Schwinn that was in pretty decent shape but I gave it a custom/chopper look for fun. The crates on both I built myself with a combo of new and scrap wood pieces I had lying around. Here are a few before/after.....

Hi Sam. Nice bikes, great job. Your 1987(?) Schwinn, how did you determine your approximate manufacture date? I recently bought a Giant Goldcoast that looks identical to yours; I believe Giant was making the frames for Schwinn during this era. What did you have for your coaster brake? And do your wheels have any inscription on them, mine say: FEMCO26X1.75TAIWAN. I also have a sticker on the seat tube saying built in Taiwan. Just curious what year mine is. Thanks, Muji

If your Giant made Schwinn isn't too new, there should be a 4 digit build date stamped on the head badge. DDDY, last digit is the year.

Did you see GT’s commentary on the head badge? I can’t see if your’s has any head badge. Coaster brake? Any inscription on your wheels?

The inscription is on the outside of the rim on the top. Just want to know the make of the coaster brake, mine is a Suntour.
