Newest Monark

I got this one yesterday off Craigslist and it`s in great shape, just a little dirty. I noticed something strange about it though...the back reflector housing is plastic!
I`m sure that it`s a factory piece as i`ve never heard of or seen any reproductions. Does anyone have any info on these? Could it be an item sent from the factory to replace
a damaged unit? Thanks for any help.

I also had a girls Monark with a rear white plastic bezel and thought it was strange, since my two boys Monark's are pot metal. Perhaps it's a girly thang?

I also bought a pistachio green Super Deluxe Ladies' bike a while back with a matte black plastic tombstone reflector housing. I thought is was weird too. Elgin
