Is the build date of my Tornado. Picked up local and got her going again.

Only Pat (Schwinncruisers) says the serial number log date is the build date. Nice job on the clean up, and the build date is an unknown but in "most" cases it's somewhere around one to two months after the serial number date.

Very true. Since Schwinn stamped the serial numbers on the dropouts and frame heads before they were even welded to the frame I think of any date associated with the serial number more as a "conception" date.
