Old mercury year?

Can anyone help me with the year thinking about buying this is this a three speed?

Frame & carrier are similar to a Mercury I used to have. It looks like a prewar Schwinn fork & trussrods if I'm not mistaken.

The top truss rod bracket looks like it may be an original; kind of wide, like Sears Elgins made by Murray, as do the rods with crimped or pinched ears below the threads instead of lower jam nuts.
Oh, did you axe the year - maybe 1936-37 frame; with 1960’s standard 1/2”-pitch chain ring sprocket of similar Murray make and style, maybe 48 teeth.
[A kickback might not have compatible skip tooth sprockets].

Should have a two letter code before the number. M for Murray then the next letter a year code. Interesting there is none.

I think they made this frame style from 37-41.

Similar is correct ! Iv seen them with 2 different rear stays and with and without deep fenders
