Olympics Oops!

The BMX crash was quite a flattening. It reminded me of a peloton crash where people just go down because they're packed tightly together.

.....then, minutes after writing the above post.
These two come along, Katie Archibald and Laura Kenny.
A superlative demonstration of the 'Madison' event, a masterclass.
They basically led from start to finish, winning 10 of the 12 sprints over the 120 laps.
Katie's second gold in two consecutive Olympics.
Little Laura has now won 5 gold medals over 3 consecutive Olympic games, the most successful female Olympic cyclist ever, incredible!

The Madison is my favorite race on the track.
I’m soooo glad they brought it back to the Olympic Games.
This time around featured the ladies.
Congrats goes to the Brits once again.

Laura Kenny is all smiles this time around.
With another Gold medal to hang in her trophy case, she now has 5, count them, 5! for her Olympic career.
Not too bad for a girl. Lol!

I knew a little about the origin of the races name, but good to learn more.

Men's Madison and Keirin to look forward to today.
The Keirin is my favourite discipline on the boards, although the UCI/Olympics version is a somewhat sanitised version of (to me) the purity of the Japanese version. Every rider on bicycles all built to the same ,exacting design, made of steel.
The Olympic games version is a lot easier on the riders though; no elbowing, no shoulder barging and no head butting allowed!

Well, our guys hit the boards, and were out by the halfway point of the Men’s Madison Race.
But, it was good to see the Danes win it in commanding fashion.
The Brits came on strong at the end, but it was just too little too late, so they had to settle for the Silver this time around.

Nice to see Michael Morkov win the Gold after all his dedicated service, leading out Mark Cavendish in this years,
Tour de France.
He most certainly deserved a little glory of his own this time around.
