On Training Wheels
This is a very nice, very clean 1955 Schwinn Green Phantom bicycle. I have owned this for many years and have had it hanging on the wall in my “toy room” where it has received a lot of attention. This has been part of my personal collection, but it’s time to downsize.
The bike has had some use and as far as I can tell it is an original survivor. It may have had some cosmetic maintenance done before I got it, I can't be sure since I am not an expert, but you can tell from the photos it is a real gem! The front light, rear light and horn all work as they should. The brakes work fine. It also has the Cyclelock fork lock with 2 keys.
The serial number of T96*** shows it was manufactured 11/01/1955 in Chicago, likely for the 1955 Christmas sales.
In the Schwinn 1955 catalog, this is the description:
The Cantilever frame, chrome-trimmed tank, spring fork, chrome fenders with built-in fenderlite and genuine leather saddle make the Phantom the best bike money can buy.
