Am no longer in the market for badges ...
as 99.5% of mine have been sold. But back
a few years ago, that stamped Dayton badge
was in the grail.category for me.

Davis-era Dayton badges have fallen into my lap at

least a dozen times ... am not counting beaters that
have been passed by. The Huffman-era Dayton badge
is very-difficult to find in undamaged form. This is a
good one. Remove the old paint .. replace with fresh.

Thinking about taking it a step further ? Read on ....

A collector who is meticulous with small metallic
artifacts could micro block-sand the top flats with
320 / 400 / 600 / 1200 wet or dry and re-plate in a
tabletop plating tank. Maybe just removing the
nickel .. checking for injury to the brass and then
re-plating is all that is needed. I really have little
trust using the commercial size plating tanks. Tiny
plate-able things, like badges, can get lost in the big tanks.

..... p.

Post script ... never - ever chrome-plate a badge. Chrome
is not flexible ... bend the badge to fit it to a headtube ......
CRACK .. goes the chrome. NICKEL PLATE ONLY
