Plastic will look pretty damn good to you when they start making them out of cardboard.

you will be a rich man once you donate all your cardboard to the pedal makers.You will have to find a new material to store your parts on.

I have some NOS East German pedals- no reflectors, already chromed, VERY high quality, rebuildable but with 9/16 threads. It is really easy to tap cranks for the slightly larger size. 4" standard men's width. $25.00 US shipped in a box.

Don't know why anybody would want to tap out perfectly good 1/2 cranks to use 9/16?

Same reason perfectly good French cranks get tapped out- availability and expedience. These things aren't rare!
