I like this a lot, but it's not specifically for bikes. The US Patent Gazette of August 1913 says:

It doesn't look like the patent was granted. Since it has Patents Applied For on the data plate, that means it will be very close to August 1913 in date.

Yes I did find literature later. It started in 1912 and was mounted on the running board of a car and hand cranked or mounted in the engine compartment and run off the crank or by electrical means so pretty versatile but yes turns out it’s for automobiles. Thanks for the info
