Finally riding a big boys bike
Has anyonehad any luck with repairing the persons bike siren? I got one recently and it is frozen up. Just figured I would ask before I tear it apart. Thanks!

I have a similar siren. I've never taken it apart.
But I did open an old bicycle ringer that was
frozen.
Some of the internal parts were rusted which
caused the movements not to rotate to creat
the sound.
I used WD-40 and a soft grade sandpaper
to gently remove the rust.
It works now.

Thanks everyone! I will give it a crack! Does it look like it's missing anything?

Looks like you need the "chain" or
what ever it's called.
It connects the siren to
the handle-bars.
Pulling on the chain "activates" the
siren. It moves the roller to the wheel
which causes the internal ring to
rotate creating the "police siren" sound.

Check the hardware shops. The chain
is not heavy, more like a key chain in
size.
My hardware shop has various sizes and
come in reels. You tell the clerk what
length you require.

First:
Attach the siren and measure
how much in length of chain
you are going to need.
Give yourself enough pad to
insure you have enough in length
when making the purchase.

Hopefully like has already been mentioned,
a few drops of oil will unstuck the siren
and get it working.

When you get it working, you are going
to hear a sound like a police siren from
those old movies. The faster you pedal
the louder the sound. :)

I have three of tahese....holy smokes these are loud (and fun). I took one of mine apart tof clean it. No big challange, as stated earlier, a bit of WD40 and fine sandpaper. I used previously used Scotch rite and it worked great.

Maybe I heard wrong but I thought I read that these were illegal in some areas back in the day...who knows.

Once you split the halves, the only thing I can think of that would be frozen is the top bearing.the knurled contact on top threads off and the shaft slides through the bearing.might need some penetrating oil as it looks pretty rusty.
I AGREE THAT THE TOP BEARING GREASE FREEZES UP INTO A SOLID MASS AND NEEDS TO BE FULLY DISASSEMBLED
AND LIKELY THE BEARINGS MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED.
