Picking this one up within the week, will update with serial number when I have it in my hands but I’m fairly sure its a Pierce. Maybe a replacement sprocket? Not holding my breath for it having a badge…it is currently serving as a light fixture

Ok got this apart and # stamped on BB shell is 216 2 (last 2 is larger, see pics)
Frame has been damaged and poorly repaired at the seat cluster and chain stay bridge. Bike has some decent parts: Morrow coaster brake, cross brace bars, diamond 1” pitch chain, matching wards riverside singletube tires, steel cement (?) rims. Forks appear to be in great shape. Any insight into the crankset? Sprocket looks wrong. Had a nice solid long spring saddle with a bare pan. Anyway just wanted to post the serial # here for posterity.

Pierce and Pierce/Emblem made bikes definitely have specific cranksets with the oversized cone hardware and specific chain rings. Seems it was replaced with something that fit. Another cool Pierce/Emblem moto~!

Update on Pierce Badged. Hours of rubbing on frame uncovered a beautiful plated frame. Put on modern fixie wheels to make rideable while I sort out the wooden rims. Rides well!
it’s a keeper but I’m curious as to its value.
That thing turned out great......plated frames are so cool when cleaned up,..... and what a great look as a modern rider....value is subjective with non original parts, ....but Dang.....I'd say its worth a bit to the right guy..call it a 1600 bike and enjoy...very nice cleanup.

Hello Pierce People

Over the years many posts have been done about Pierce bicycles ...has any one gathered serial numbers to more accurately date them ?

On the Wheelmen web site Dave Toppin has begun the gather serial numbers ..please link

http://www.thewheelmen.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2032

Pierce had many model numbers over the years , different model for each size frame, changing each year ( at least in the 1898-1904 period ) some machines have decals with model numbers on the slope tube up near the head ..... if a few original machines are out there with model numbers and serial #'s building a timeline of production will come together rather quickly ...
in later years Pierce seemed to use the same model number for many years ..

Pierce began bicycle production in 1891
Cushion frame with leaf spring 1898-1902
1898 seamless joints on all models prior years visible joints
Chainless production starts 1900
Front spring fork starts 1902
1906 Pierce Cycle Co is formed nameplate change
1918 Emblem buys Pierce Cycle assets ... Name plates now change to Angola production continues to 1940

If any one has catalogs in the 1905-1914 range, they would be a great help to help pin point model changes .

At the Wheelmen link you can find Dave's link for the 1899 and 1900 Pierce catalogs

Here are a few photos of Racer # 165509 with Pierce Cycle Co nameplate model 110 .... after 1906 before 1918

I've got to tell you all. I have acquired a new love for vintage. 2 years ago I brought my high school 1987 Nishiki Olympic into the garage and restored it to almost new. In Apr. 23 I found this whip when i went to a porcelain sign guys shop to pick up an old Bike Lane sign. When I saw this bike, I wanted to find out everything I could about it. It didn't take long before I found the CABE. I'm looking forward to here what everyone has to say about it. There are two negatives about this one. 1st, if you look at the top of fork at the fender, the clips that held the spring fork were cut off flush. 2nd, it's an 18". I'm 6' and I know when I get the tires in next week, she's going to be too small. I will sell it and try to find another one. Meanwhile, I look forward to taking in all the knowledge and advise You all can provide.

Thanks,
Disco

cool bike, wrong chain wheel, crank, stem, handlebar and saddle.
your fork may have been replaced at one time, however it is a Pierce fork. Missed that you said the truss rod tabs had been cut off, that sucks.
The Motor Bike Frames have an 18" seat post tube, just use a longer seat post, mine is 5/8" steel bar stock that is bent at a 60 degree angle and sits the saddle at a very comfortable riding height. I have a spare home made seat post like it if you are interested. I am 6 foot as well. The bike is a great rider, as well.

I chose to build a 700c wheel set, with period correct hubs, so I can use modern affordable tires.

this is what you have.
