Today I brought the pierce to Caber and Piercer CW Gerlach for opinion on Carmine paint restoration. He has convinced me that we need to submerge frame and forks in a Ocillic Acid Bath. Ocillic acid is a powder ( Walmart ) that you put into a container of water large enough to hold a frame and forks ( garbage can) and carefully soak for hours! It is 30 degrees here outdoors so I will wait until spring as results are better in warmer climates! I will carefully document process with photos! In meantime I’ll assemble for winter fun! Thank you Chris (CW) for your guidance and experience! Rick

Water PH & temp play a big part in how well/quickly OA works. BE CAREFUL using it on red bikes since most used iron oxide for pigment, which is precisely what OA attacks. There are several threads on here about how to use OA when cleaning up a bike. Good luck!
