David Barclay

'Lil Knee Scuffer
I have a 1901 Pan American cushion rear, where the shaft bearings are gone. I apparently will need to machine the sleeves that fit on the shaft next to the gears that form the inner bearing surface, and to get everything to line up I need baring dimensions. Has anyone replaced the bearings on this vintage, and can you suggest what bearing(s) you used (brand and #). Once I have the bearings I can start working backward to the dimensions of the sleeves. Any suggestion for the large (~5 1/4") cage ball around the crankset gearcase that allows movement of the rear would also be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave
