Cruisin' on my Bluebird
I re-laced a couple of wheels and needed to true them. Took an old fork and put a couple of zip ties on it. Cut the zip ties to a length that was long enough to get close enough to the wheel and not leave too big of a gap. The nylon is stiff enough to stay in place put flexible enough to give if contact is made with the wheel. The nylon also doesn't harm the paint if there is contact.

Nothing wrong with that method!!!. I used it as well on my coaster brake bikes.
I used this method for my lightweight group. I used the bolt fine true it.

Well, I got the rear wheel laced and wouldn't you know it, the fork isn't wide enough to take a rear hub.
