Porkchop spacer?

-

Mark Johnston

Finally riding a big boys bike
I need one or two of the spacer washers that go between the porkchop and cone nut to set up a hub. Seems to me that any 3/8” ID washers would work fine? Am I missing something?

It’s pretty thin, and you won’t need more than one unless you’re doing it wrong. As long as the OD of the washer is small enough and doesn’t interfere with the curve of the plate you’re good - the thinnest possible to keep the brake plate from rubbing on the spoke flange is all you need.

Make sure you are applying the brake pretty firmly when you tighten the axle nuts to properly center the shoes inside the drum and keep it from dragging while coasting.

That’s what I thought. I have several others on bikes, just got one in missing the spacer this time.
